Joy Junction

I was given the opportunity to teach at Joy Junction for our November Renovate outreach. It was a thrill. I had shared in some pretty distracting environments before, none like this. Blessed to serve along-side our refuge crew and Josh, who did worship for the night. Continue to pray for the people at Joy Junction those who live there and those who serve there. What an awesome work the Lord is doing!!!!

Sum Sum Synopsis.

Blogosphere, I've been missing you. Trying to get back in the action of blogging.

Wednesday, I bought a car, it's a jetta wagon, I guess I thought it would be a good family car (I'm just trying to get a decade ahead of the game).

This last Thursday Renovate was packed, despite the arctic conditions inside the El Rey. nate Taught an Awesome message on the refuge that is found in God alone.

Friday, we went to the childrens wing of pres. hospital to share some candy and the good news with sick kids.

Saturday, Bible man came to the fall fest in what was termed his "ghetto fab carriage". This produced an awesome response at the Altar call.

So far today has been great. Metro, gospel tracts, and free burritos in the downtown.

A series through some select Psalms

Working in the Student Ministries is excited. Each day I learn something new. Lately, I have been learning a little about graphic design. The Above is my latest Creation. It's a flash link for Nate's Series through the Psalms.

Thought you might want to know.

Not yet, but I'm sure I will

The Other day when a good friend told me about this upcoming frozen yogurt shop I was glad. However, after seeing this poster and realizing just how comparable it is to Southern California's WHITE LIME, I became simply ecstatic. You're movin' on up Albuquerque.

Heitzig 1.0

Nope, not Nate this week. He's in Capitan. This is the Original Heitzig Pastor and Evangelist. Skip at the El Rey theatre. Not on a sunday and not on a screen. Only good times and great truth.

Greater things are still to be done.

Yesterday we held a Bible Study (like every Sunday) downtown at the El Rey Theater. What you see in the above picture is 16 motorcycles parked right out front. The Lord is doing a work in the ABQ Metro area. It's a little different from your average "church crowd" but having faith and being filled with the Spirit they are the church. Excited to see what else is coming out way.

Family time.

This is my Uncle Neal. He writes books, does an awesome work for the Lord in China, and has a great beard. Maybe one day I will be like him.

Oodles of Noodles

432 packs of Ramen noodles, just waiting in the back of my jeep to be eaten by the starving college students at UNM... unless Jesse gets to them first with his troubling looks.

Judith... sick?

On the Ground (in the picture below) you can see all four wheels and some drum brakes, however, Judith is not on the ground where she belongs. As the mechanic delivered the diagnosis to me, he said very seriously "you take this car home and park it until you can get it fixed. It's just too dangerous to have on the road." In a little louder voice he concluded "I'm not trying to be a salesman, this is reality!"

As I was leaving the shop, a different employee who had just placed the old brakes, and wheels back on, and driven the car out of the garage. Handed me the key and with a serious tone (after seeming to venerate Mary) said to me "good luck."

Needless to say, after hearing such words come from the mouths of these men, I was somewhat frightened to drive Judith around town.

Since, I have gone on long enough, I will let you all know that, I replaced the front brakes with the help of a friend and at a fr action of the cost.

Moral of the story: In such a fast pace world, it's important to have good brakes and cheaper to have smart friends.

Mat Pirolo: Repeating History

2007. Longer hair, weird stance, Mattresses for Josh

2009. Shorter Hair, still a weird stance, Mattresses for Josh and Tamara.

Today my first design was printed.
Nothing too detailed or extreme, but I'm happy with it.

Phenomena! ... Maybe?

This last Saturday night sky was different than usual. Lighting! No thunder? No rain?
Bigger! Closer!! Brighter!!!
The following shots are from that night. Keep in mind these were taken while driving.

1 of lightning.
1 of a Sky dragon!
2 Bonus Photos.

This one is called "Sasquatch of the Sky"

I call this one "Deadly Dreams"

This masterpiece is "Blurred Blockbuster"

Madrid, NM

I went to Madrid with Heidi and Sky Lusko. We saw the town shop, a small store that was built for the filming of Wild Hogs featuring Tim Allen and some other guys. After all this we ate at the mine shaft and enjoyed nachos, cake, and coffee of course. We re-entered Abq with success in our smiles.

A New Student Servant?

Yes, and I will be serving next semester.

This morning I gave two announcements to the student body, but from the picture it looks like I am speaking to an empty auditorium.

P.S.

Sorry about the soft glow on all my phone pics. That is not fun and noone likes it. Hopefully that will all change soon.

ABQ debriefing and an extended vacation.

Josh and I took a train to Albuquerque Thursday night. It was a good 16 hours. I got to watch Aladdin for the first time ever. That was pretty fantastic. Little homework was done on the train.
Friday we arrived in Abq where Larissa picked us up from the station (not before we got to see some awesome amish people).

Next stop was my parents house to surprise my mom. It was great, tons of hugs, nice front door, happy mothers day, I love you mom. I then proceeded to surprise the rest of my immediate family either at their places of residence or jobs. Fun for me, fun for all. I met my niece Haven for the first time!

Around 5:30 after just pulling up to the meet I got to see Heidi both run and win the 400 race. She is really fast. I may have proven to be a distraction from her race. She may or may not ave jumped up and gotten out of her starting position when she saw me. However, the Ref/Umpire(?) was gracious and allowed her to get back in stance before firing the gun.

After the race was a "Surprise Happy Birthday Tamara Party" . It was a great time with good friends and good entertainment. Below you see Gina and Heidi hitting up the karaoke station. Emery Miller may have stolen the spotlight though (not pictured)

Saturday was good also I spent some time playing ping pong with my dad. He's gotten better and I've gotten worse. What can I say he's growing up.  Heidi got first place in the 4x400 on saturday. That makes for two races in one weekend, both first place! Good job Heidi.

Sunday morning I went to 2nd service at CCABQ which I very much enjoyed. I had not been able to hear skip in a while, but last sunday he brought a good word on the Art of going to church. Calvary of Albuquerque has a special place in my heart and I don't see that changing any time soon.

Soon after service got out, Josh and I decided it was a good idea to get back on the road to California. The first half of the day went well (as expected),however, about 30 miles outside of Kingman Arizona, the Saturn SC2  started having some problems and soon gave up all hope and perseverance. We were driving the little saturn that couldn't... bad idea.

Seriously though, it's not too funny. Josh is without a caAdd Imager for the time being and that means added difficulty to life.

Anyway we pulled off to the next exit and got to a safe zone on the dirt road. I broke out the chips and salsa, while he took care of some "can you tow my car" business. After sitting around for a while we saw some bulls and ate more chips and salsa.

Eventually AAA picked us up and took us to a hotel in Kingman. Not a bad adventure. Sure the cost of things was no luxury, but we did get to spend 32 hours in a hotel room catching up on homework and getting our fill of Spongebob.  Late Monday night we boarded a train from kingman and arrived in Riverside CA around 5:40 tuesday morning. Chris Picked us up and took us back to school.

All in all it's been an exciting and extended weekend. Moral of the story; ...Actually Ihave no idea, what morals can be learned from this. Make a lot of good friends and be flexible when life doesn't happen as though you thought it might.    We don't have to praise the Lord for everything, that would be nonsensical, but we definitely can praise the Lord in everything.

Belated Birthday Post.

I should have posted this a while ago.... but I didn't. Heidi got me Flip Flops (I went through my last pair so quickly), and I've just about got them warn in. Feeling ready to hit the beach. Both of My grandmothers sent me birthday cards. I say "birthday cards" because everyone knows those are better than regular cards. The contents were blessed and My mom sent me cookies in a zip-loc bag delivered by Lee Jensen (which was an especially nice treat). Sorry I'm so late, but thank you everyone!

Denver Miller

In other news, my mom sent me a picture of one of my Best Friends at my grandma's house. He's always been good to my family.

I got a Cadillac!

It's all been so fun. Flying down the PCH. Crusing the 101. I love this car, and I'm pretty sure I've had some of the craziest times of my life while driving it for the last couple days. Well, yesterday as Josh was about to get in the shower He found a lizard in his bathroom. So he called me up, put it in a box, and told me to take care of  it.

I had one idea and found it the only option. So I tossed the box in the back of my trunk and drove down to tijuana (had a little mix up at the border, but that's a different story.) Once in Tijuana I found the nearest high cliff and drove my new Cadi right off, leaving nothing but burnt metal and the ash of a lizard.

So all in all, it's been an eventful weekend. I mean, I don't drive a Cadillac anymore and I don't think my insurance will cover the carnage, but my time has been well spent.

Birthday Banter

Yesterday I turned 18! That really only happens once. I woke up and  had some great time in Ezekiel 22&23 afterwards, I had some downtime for personal reading (Protagoras, by Plato) in the library. What better to do after reading than getting British chocolate bars right? So Josh, Chris, Jesse and I went to Old town Temecula, where I took the  below picture.

This resulted in an eventual 2 hour nap.  Not long after waking, I received a call from the bible college informing me I needed to pick something up from the office. What could it be I wonder?

Six birthday balloons from my nephew Malachi and sister Reoyne, thanks guys.  Eventually I had a surprisingly good dinner, well all but the sauer kraut (sp?)

Now, I'd like to thank my friends Anthony, Katie, Chris, Josh, and Jesse for a wonderful time over tons of food last night. Chili's chips and salsa, six rounds, 5 rounds of blackberry tea, and two molten chocolate lava cakes. All around my birthday was great. Thank you everyone for a great day and thank you Reoyne for praying for two years that you could have a little brother.

Weekend at Grammies

It was a great time. Chris and I, after getting back from MT, went to the high desert for some time with my grand parents. We hoed out some weeds, then we used a tractor that my 72 year old Grandmother taught us to drive. The next day we made some statues of horses.... The top one may resemble a large dog. Just look past that.

Montana Madness.

Jesse and I had a good time as grooms men for Devan today, so did Chris, but He didn't make it to the picture. We've been hear since thursday. Right now I am laying on the floor in Josh Bowers' Living room. Where I will be staying tonight.
Knowing that I would be up here, Johnny asked me to teach the Mid-High service today. Above is a picture of some of my studying on friday at Johnny's desk. Yesterday (Saturday) we went snowboarding for a couple hours. I love Montana.

Devan Michael Flaherty

He is good at ping pong, I learned a lot about table tennis from him. One day we played 18 games in a row and I won them all. I think he was frustrated. Nonetheless we had a good time.
He's been a huge blessing in my life, for sure.  Sometimes he risks his body (hand) for the safety of His camera. He's a great photographer. He also taught me about that, specifically portraits.

We lived in California together for four months last year as we schooled at CCBC. Such good times. Once we slept on the beach. That was fun. Another time we read through Joel a couple times, while waiting for a Josh and Chris, it was good.

Some other great news is that Devan is getting married this Sunday. So, I'll be headed out to MT on thursday. I'm excited for the guy. I love him and know that the Lord is doing great things in his life and God will continue to do great things in Devan's life. Also, Devan and Jenn are pretty awesome together. Congratulations Devan!

Eat More Chicken.

Yes Please! Chick-fil-a is giving out free breakfast items everyday this week if you show up in your Pajamas. I went alone on Monday, but today (wednesday) I had enjoyed the great company of Katie, Anthony, Chris, Jesse (behind the camera) and Lee Jensen, who wears the cow costume (not pictured). We have good reason to be grateful for such an establishment.
